Class of 2028 Standouts: Watters and Scott Surge in Latest Rankings
Following the Perfect Game Junior National Showcase in Marietta, outfielder Koltyn Watters and RHP Cullen Scott have broken into the top five nationally. Scouts are raving about Watters' 104 mph exit velocity and Scott's 99 mph fastball.
The Class of 2028 is quickly proving to be one of the most athletic groups in recent memory, led by Michigan outfielder Koltyn Watters. During the recent Junior National Showcase at East Cobb, Watters displayed a rare combination of speed and power, clocking a 6.47 sixty-yard dash and launching multiple home runs during batting practice. His rise to the No. 4 spot in the national rankings reflects a trend of younger players reaching professional-level physical benchmarks earlier than ever before. Joining him at the top of the charts is Texas native Cullen Scott, a two-way prospect whose performance on the mound has set social media ablaze. Scott touched 99 mph this spring, a figure that was unheard of for a high school sophomore just a decade ago. His refined mix of a slider and changeup makes him more than just a thrower, positioning him as a potential top draft pick in a few years. Other names to watch include Puerto Rican catcher Adriel Cartagena and Florida shortstop Bryan Mesa, both of whom displayed elite defensive tools and advanced approach at the plate. These prospects are now the primary focus for college recruiters as the contact window for the class opens in August.
