Grant Arnold and Derek Vazquez Shine at 2026 PG Junior National Showcase

The 2026 Perfect Game Junior National showcase in Marietta provided a platform for the top prospects in the class of 2028 to display their tools. Florida standout Grant Arnold and North Carolina shortstop Derek Vazquez were among the most talked-about performers.

The East Cobb Baseball complex in Marietta hosted the 2026 PG Junior National showcase, an event critical for identifying the next generation of elite baseball talent. The showcase featured workouts including 60-yard dashes, infield/outfield drills, and batting practice, followed by live game action. This year, the focus was squarely on the rising high school sophomores who are quickly becoming household names for college recruiters. Grant Arnold, a 6-foot-3 outfielder and catcher from Florida, lived up to his top-5 ranking by displaying massive lefthanded power during batting practice and turning around a 95 mph fastball in a game for a home run. His combination of size, athleticism, and raw power makes him one of the most unique prospects in the 2028 class. Similarly, Derek Vazquez from North Carolina showed why he is considered an elite shortstop prospect, displaying plus running speed and smooth hands in the dirt. Scouts noted the increased physical maturity across the board in this class, with many 14- and 15-year-olds reaching metrics that were previously reserved for older age groups. As the recruiting window for the class of 2028 opens on August 1st, the performances at this showcase will undoubtedly influence college coaches' priority lists.
